New USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) carrier-shaped challenge coin. The coin is 3" x .77" x .157" with diecast impressions on front and back. Coin is cast from the ship's blueprint and is to scale to include the flight deck layout. The USS Theodore Roosevelt is the fourth Nimitz-class aircraft carrier. The ship is named in honor of our 26th President, Theodore Roosevelt. It is also the 4th Navy ship name after him. Theodore Roosevelt's history began on 30 SEP 1980 when a contract was awarded to Newport News Shipyard and the ship was christened on 25 OCT 1986. Since then, the ship has had long and honored history deploying in support of the follow missions: Operation Desert Shield, Operation Provide Comfort, Operation Deny Flight, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Inherent Resolve. CVN-71 is currently homeported in San Diego, CA.
